1970s
Dr. Michael Schifano H’78, chief
officer of Heartland Women’s Healthcare,
sold his practice to Advantia Health,
a Virginia-based health care provider.
Heartland provides specialist OB-GYN
care to areas that would not otherwise
have access to those medical services.
The sale will expand Heartland’s reach
to other geographical locations.
SRAA Elects New Board
and past president of the Sheridan Road
Alumni Association (SRAA). Currently,
she works at Redwood Construction
Service as senior coordinator. Christine
also serves as the nominating director for
the Junior League of Chicago.
Kate Perrine
A’02 married
Travis Hitt.
Emma Chikow A’08 graduated from
Goldsmith College, University of
London, with a master’s in arts adminis-
tration and cultural policy, with merit.
1990s
Emily Dolan A’97 and her husband,
Bo Bourke, welcomed a son; their
daughter, Charlotte, is now a big sister
to Bob and Jack.
Dr. James Hendele H’98 finished his
surgical residency at University of Illinois
Chicago. He and his wife moved this
summer, and he will receive additional
medical training in organ transplantation
at the University of Washington.
Alexandra Benz A’99 is a pediatric
nurse practitioner at Erie Family Health
Centers. She and her husband, Ryan,
have a son and a daughter.
Michael Cuevas H’99 and his wife,
Clarivel Corral-Cuevas, celebrated
their 10th wedding anniversary this year.
Michael went back to art school at
Columbia College Chicago and will be
spending a semester in Los Angeles.
2000s
Christine Ahern A’02
was elected the Midwest
Regional Director for the
Associated Alumnae and
Alumni of the Sacred
Heart (AASH). Christine
is an active board member
Zul Kapadia A’05 will
be starting the Master of
Public Administration
(MPA) program this fall
at the Harvard Kennedy
School. He will be pursu-
ing a career in sustainable
power and infrastructure
development.
Bianca Granara A’03 currently lives in
London and recently joined a financial
start-up, Salary Finance, that is focused
on improving financial well-being in
the workplace.
Lucy Lindgren A’03 married Daniel
Newman in May 2019.
Abby Gravenhorst A’04 married Ian
Strug on May 11, 2019.
Dino Simunac H’04 and his wife,
Brittany, welcomed their first daughter,
Liliana Grace, in July 2019.
Megan Yorath A’04 graduated from the
University of Vermont with a bachelor’s
degree in early childhood education
as well as psychology. She then went to
Erikson Institute and earned her master’s
degree in child development with a
specialization in child life. During that
time, she worked part time as an assistant
teacher at St. Chrysostom’s Day School in
the preschool classrooms. She now leads
the Junior Kindergarten and 4’s program
and curriculum at St. Chrysostom’s.
Emily Craven A’08 graduated from
Georgetown Law and will be joining
the firm of Perkins Coie in Chicago.
2010s
John Cleland H’11 graduated with a
Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse
University. He is excited to have been
accepted to the Disney College
Program, starting early September as
a character performer.
Claire Simons A’11 will begin medical
school at Wayne University School
of Medicine.
Madison Weatherly A’11 graduated
from Dartmouth College with a double
major in biology and French. She plans
to attend medical school.
Ethan Pinto H’17, who attends Latin
School of Chicago, will be spending his
junior year of high school in China.

Every person who attended Sacred Heart Schools on Sheridan Road—regardless of graduation status—is considered a member
of SRAA. You are always welcome back to Sheridan Road, no matter how much time has passed.
Elizabeth Grady, Co-President
Elizabeth Grady, who graduated in
2006, is a financial planner for Baldwin
Financial Advisors, a boutique invest-
ment advisory firm in the northwest
suburbs of Chicago. In her role, she
works with clients to build, protect
and sustain their wealth. Elizabeth
has spoken on her experience in the
finance industry to InvestmentNews,
The Society of Financial Service Professionals, and AXA
Institute. She’s also a speaker and host of Women Talk Finance,
spreading her knowledge about finance, entrepreneurship
and smart investing.
Elizabeth has a bachelor’s degree in economics and classical
civilizations from DePauw University and lives in Lincoln Park
with her twin sister, Mary. Away from the office, you can find
Elizabeth exploring new Chicago restaurants, sipping cappuc-
cinos at the Art Institute of Chicago, and listening to country
music while line dancing!
Mary Grady, Co-President
Mary Grady graduated from the
Academy of the Sacred Heart in
2006. From there, she attended Saint
Ignatius College Prep and then
DePauw University where she studied
economics and history. Mary joined
the SRAA Board two years ago after
attending her 10-year SHS Reunion.
She works at BMO Harris Bank as
a credit analyst for a diverse group of commercial companies.
Outside of work, she is a passionate literacy advocate and
serves as a board member of the Chicago Public Library
Foundation Associate Board and as a volunteer at Working in
the Schools (WITS).
She is excited to serve on the SRAA Board as Co-Vice President
with her twin sister, Elizabeth.
Joan Merlo, Vice President
Joan Merlo attended Sacred Heart for
12 years, graduating in 1972. She then
attended the University of Wisconsin-
Madison, obtaining a bachelor’s degree
in Italian. She served as a congressional
aide to U.S. Representative Sidney
R. Yates for a number of years. Later,
she worked in the motion picture
business as a production coordinator.
Taking time off to stay home with her two sons, Matthew and
Jack Donoghue, Joan was involved in fundraising and volunteer
work and was a founder of the parent teacher organization at
the boys’ elementary school.
For the past 21 years, Joan has worked in finance and
occasionally as an actor. She continues to study theater and
has enjoyed singing in numerous church choirs over the years.
She says about SRAA, “The like-mindedness across generations
of Sheridan Road alumni continues to delight and inspire.”
Katie Malloy, Secretary
Catherine “Katie” Malloy graduated
from the Academy in 1983 and our
high school in 1987. After graduating
cum laude with degrees in philosophy
and history from Loyola University
Chicago, she returned to Loyola and
obtained a law degree.
Since that time she has been a career
prosecutor for the Cook County State’s
Attorney’s Office in Chicago. After spending the majority
of her career in the Felony Trial Division, she recently moved
to her current position in the Special Prosecutions Bureau
where she works in the Human Trafficking Unit. Katie fondly
remembers her years at Sacred Heart and believes her experi-
ences equipped her to seek out intellectual challenges and
opportunities in her life and work.
