Wald Recognized by the Multistate Tax
Commission with Paull Mines Award
Donnita A. “Dee” Wald was recently
awarded the Paull Mines Award for
Contribution to State Tax Jurisprudence by
the Multistate Tax Commission (MTC).
She received the award on Aug. 7 at the
MTC’s 52nd annual conference, luncheon,
and award program, held in Boise, Idaho.
Wald serves as special assistant attorney
general and general counsel at the North
Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner.
She graduated with a bachelor of arts
degree in political science from North
Dakota State University in 1984 and
worked as a legal assistant at the North
Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner
from 1984 to 1988. She then attended
the University of North Dakota School of
Law, graduating with distinction in 1991,
and returned to work at the North Dakota
Office of State Tax Commissioner following
graduation from law school.
The MTC established the Paull Mines
Award in 2007 to honor the memory
and achievements of Paull Mines, who
served as MTC general counsel for eight
years until his death in 2002. The award
annually recognizes an attorney who has
made significant contributions to state tax
jurisprudence and who exemplifies Paull’s
qualities of leadership, legal excellence, and
professional integrity in the best traditions
of the profession. Medal winners are chosen
by an MTC selection committee from
nominations submitted by state tax agency
employees.
