Did you feel like the pressure came more from the students, parents, or church?
MN: There is no doubt that the whole community was unanimous--from students, to parents, to
alums, to administrators--most administrators anyways--that I should stay put, that they were
going to fight, that the Woodside Priory School was going to remain a place where people could
be free to be whoever they are, and I would be able to continue to teach the academic study of
religion in a way that would be generative to all students – not just to students who identify as
Catholic. So, I would say
