In other news, there has been another major breakthrough in the space realm recently. In 2023, the most powerful light coming from the Sun we have ever seen was recorded. This light was in the form of gamma rays. To explain what these are, I will start by saying that all of the energy from the Sun that we as humans receive is solar radiation, which is part of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum. This spectrum has many different types of emissions, such as infrared, ultraviolet, and gamma rays! Gamma rays are the most powerful and high energy of all waves, and evidently the light recorded from the Sun was in the form of gamma rays.
Another major focus point has to be the James Webb telescope. We all know about this telescope from the assembly we had, but for context, it was sent into space on December 25th, 2021. It is able to take farther and more detailed images of the universe than ever before possible, as it provides a beacon of understanding for scientists, astronomers, and mankind as to what lies beyond our solar system. Images from the James Webb telescope will be crucial to our future understanding of space, and we must all pay close attention to the potentially altering information it may provide us with in the future.
