Which is better, the remake or the classic?
Viewers on the other side of opinion loved the modern aspect of the movie, and they felt that the musical feature only added on to this. Reneé Rapps’s acting embodied Regina nicely, and still held onto that mean girl perspective.
Also, the musical kept the same lines and scenery from the original 2004 screening. With a great balance of musical scenes and throwbacks, many fans disagreed with the idea of the phenomenon being “cringey,” and found it rather enjoyable.
Personally, I feel that the movie is a good watch, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it again. I liked the musical aspect, and I feel that it made the movie stand out. Many movies that are releasing now are remakes or sequels, which is the case for this movie, but making it a musical amped up the movie and made it stand out. Although, I feel that nothing will beat the original.
So yes this move was good, but it had large expectations to live up to, and I’m not sure it successfully did.
