Meet the Team:
The Saddle Brook Girls basketball team embarked on their official season journey on November 20th, following a series of summer workouts and active participation in a summer league throughout July. This season marked a pivotal moment for the Falcons as they navigated a rebuilding phase after clinching the NJIC American league title the previous year. Despite this transition, the majority of the team members returned, supported by the steadfast guidance of the coaching staff. Let's delve into the roster and discover some of the team's standout players, as well as their cherished memories and moments from this remarkable season. Additionally, it's worth noting that the team successfully qualified for the state tournament and achieved a commendable 11-15 overall record, with a notable 6-4 standing in the NJIC - American division. Here are some thoughts from the team:
What was the biggest adversity you had to overcome to coach the team this season?
“The biggest challenge, as a coaching staff, this season was to maintain consistency in the team's effort, energy and enthusiasm when things didn't go our way. Losing is hard and can result in a lot of negative thinking, which can become contagious. If you let that spiral out of control, things go bad quickly. I'm proud of our group for always finding a way to get themselves back into the right frame of mind and come together to play competitive basketball.” - Head Coach Columbo
