The React Club set up an event for high school students to bring holiday gifts for the children at the Brownstone School in Saddle Brook. Mrs. Levy, Mrs. Angerami and students of the club spent a lot of time and effort planning this event. Each child from the Brownstone School submitted a list noting a few of the gifts that he or she would want for Christmas, and then the high school students selected a child, and purchased the presents. There were numerous requests for soccer balls, basketballs, stuffed animals, and remote control cars. The gym in the Brownstone School was decorated for Christmas with carols playing and there was even a visit from Santa. Each child was called up individually to the front of the gym, took a photo with Santa, and received his or her present. After all of the gifts were distributed, the younger children and the students from the high school went back into the classrooms to play with all of their new toys and presents together. All of the Brownstone students seemed so happy to receive their gifts and could hardly wait to go and play with them. A few of the students really bonded with some of the high school kids, and remained paired up throughout the day. Playing with all of the kids was one of the most fun parts of the day, and seeing them enjoy their gifts and their eagerness for us to join them made us all beyond happy. It was a very fun day for everyone involved with the event, and it gave us a great kickoff to the holiday season!
