BOYS BASKETBALL

By: John Hacker ('21) and Pat Matula ('21)

Overall, the Saddle Brook boys basketball team had a successful season. We went 8-15, with a loss in the state game to Wood-Ridge. Ricardo Rosa lead the team in scoring all year earning First Team All League. The future looks good for the Falcons with Amani Anglin and John Hacker returning. But the Saddle Brook team will also need other key players, like Joey Quimby, who had limited playing time this year to step up. The Falcons will need to replace four out of five starting positions that were held by seniors this year. All of the seniors played their hearts out throughout the season. Amaury Polanco was able to put 7 points and 5 rebounds in his best game in the Holiday tournament. During the Saint Mary’s game Ricardo Rosa was able to put up an astonishing 32 points. In addition, Anthony Marchetto was outstanding on defense and was able to hold the leading scorer for Saint Mary’s to only 26 points. Anthony Marchetto’s marvelous defense all season was able to lock down every leading scorer in the league. With only a minute left in the game against Saint Mary’s, Michael DiGiovanni was able to put up a crucial three- pointer from the top wing and two free throws to secure the victory. During the state game against Wood-Ridge, many players were not able to get their flow going. Kevin Daly was able to put up 11 points with three three-pointers. Ricardo Rosa also recorded 23 points and a deep three-pointer from the logo. This past Saddle Brook Boy’s Basketball season will never be forgotten.
