The boys team also showed tremendous depth and talent. Junior sprinter Nelson Ehirim clocked an impressive 11.58 seconds in the 100m at the NJIC Championships. Senior hurdler Brian Traverso was a standout in the hurdles, recording 19.06 seconds in the 110m hurdles and 1:06.19 in the 400m hurdles at Sectionals. Traverso also excelled in the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet, 9.25 inches.
Sophomore Alex Forgy demonstrated versatility in the distance events with a 5:12.24 time in the 1600m and 11:28.47 in the 3200m. Sophomore sprinter Brandon Betances ran a strong 24.34 in the 200m at the NJIC Championships, while junior Dylan Tuohy posted a 52.84 in the 400m and a long jump of 19 feet, 7 inches.
The relay teams also delivered powerful performances, highlighted by a 44.22-second 4x100m relay at the NJSIAA Group Championships, a 1:36.57 4x200m at the Bergen County Relays, and a 3:33.90 4x400m at Sectionals. The 400X100 relay team broke the school record twice with their best time being 44.22 at the Group Championships. The entire record breaking relay team returns next year and consists of Dylan Tuohy, Nelson Ehirim, Brandon Betances, and Jaiden Sarmadi.
In the throws, senior Jayden Taylor led the way with a discus throw of 121 feet, 3 inches and a shot put distance of 46 feet, 2.75 inches. Jacob Jaramillo reached 106 feet, 11 inches in the javelin.
With Coach Ciccone’s strong leadership guiding the program, the Falcons are poised to make an impact in the upcoming NJIC, Bergen County, Sectional, and State Group Championships.
