ENDLESS EFFORT

A GIRLS LACROSSE SEASON REVIEW

By: Prisha Patel

Season Overview

The Saddle Brook Girls Lacrosse Team has been diligently preparing in hopes of securing their second league title in school history this season. Despite losing key players from last year, the team recruited friends and past players to bolster their chances. This effort resulted in seven seniors stepping up to lead the team: Prisha Patel, Saoirse Twomey, Frankie Accetta, Natalie Rosales, Lia Tedesco, Alexa Szecsi, and Emily Rychlak. These players were instrumental in keeping the team competitive, scoring goals, and defending fiercely. Although the season concluded with a 6-7 record, it marked a significant improvement from the previous season’s 1-13 record.

The team faced numerous challenges but maintained their humility and composure throughout the season. Their toughest game was against Paramus Catholic, which ultimately decided the league title. After a grueling 60 minutes, they narrowly lost 9-7. Despite the disappointment, the girls have much to be proud of, having made remarkable progress as both individual players and as a team.

Star Players

Several key players stood out this season, significantly contributing to the team's success. Leading in goals, assists, and ground balls was Saoirse Twomey, who tallied 31 goals, 17 assists, and 72 ground balls, earning her First Team All League honors. Close behind was Frankie Accetta, who also achieved First Team All League with 29 goals, 12 assists, and 47 ground balls.
