Falcon Flyer Spring 2022-2023 | Page 24

So far, the movie has received amazing reviews from audiences, and in my opinion, I loved the movie as well. I think it was incredibly interesting and it was very easy for me to stay engaged. The story was interesting, it stayed true to the game, and the overall vibe of the film was amazing. Also, there were other aspects to the film that made it interesting. For example the “Peaches” song by Bowser where audiences learn that he is secretly in love with Princess Peach added comedic relief as well. And of course, the final battle that takes place toward the end was incredible as well.

However, some video game movies have not been this successful. Mainly because the movie doesn't stay true to the game. For example, critics have said that the 2020 movie Monster Hunter was unsuccessful simply because of its lack of resemblance to the game and it also just not being a good movie. The casting wasn’t right and the movie simply wasn’t good. This is a constant problem throughout these types of movies. Like the story not being right, mixed with the bad casting and bad production. So, do video game movies actually work?
