A SEASON REVIEW OF FOOTBALL
By: Emily Sullivan
The Saddle Brook Falcons have wrapped up their 2024 season, competing in the competitive New Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) Meadowlands Division. The team finished with a 3-6 record, including a 2-3 mark in division play. They secured two wins at home and one on the road, narrowly missing the North Jersey Group One playoffs by just two spots. Looking ahead, the Falcons are in a strong position for 2025. With most of the team returning, they are poised to make a serious run not only for the NJIC title but also for a spot in the state playoffs.
Running back Dylan Cerciello was a standout performer this season, amassing an impressive 820 rushing yards on 154 carries. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry and 91 yards per game. Wide receiver Jayden Gaytas was another key contributor, totaling 1,120 all-purpose yards. A dynamic presence on both sides of the ball, Gaytas also recorded 38 tackles, 4 sacks, and an interception on defense. Both juniors delivered remarkable performances, and fans are eager to see what they’ll achieve in the upcoming season.
As the Falcons look to the future, they also bid farewell to three graduating seniors: Kyle Vulkcevic, Donald Knight, and Brandon Neal. These players have been instrumental to the team’s efforts, and their contributions will not be forgotten. The entire Saddle Brook community thanks them for their dedication and wishes them the best in their future endeavors. Everyone is excited to see how the whole team grows going into next season.
