The Season
The Saddle Brook Girls Soccer team began training in late June to get ready for the start of their official season in August. They participated in a summer league, worked in the weight room, and trained with one another every day to prepare for the upcoming season. Eventually, they faced Park Ridge in their first game on September 8th. The Falcon's goal for the season was to make a name for themselves when competing with high-level teams, which was a change from their previous league. They competed in a newly constructed league including teams from Leonia, Dwight Engelwood, and Ridgefield.
The team finished with an overall record of 9-8-2 and a record of 5-2-1 in their NJIC Liberty Division. The Lady Falcons secured a spot in both the County and State Tournaments, in which they gathered 220 power points to qualify.
Tournaments
The Lady Falcons entered the Invitational County Tournament in early October with a bye in the first round. They then went on to compete with Demarest the next week and secured a win to the next round thanks to Natalie Rosales scoring the game-winning goal with 7 seconds left in the game. After making it to the third round and competing against Westwood the following week, the Falcons were defeated in overtime after a nail-biting game 2-1.
In late October, the Falcons secured a spot in the State Tournament as the 9th seed out of 16. They traveled to North Warren to compete in the first round. The Falcons battled throughout the game but unfortunately fell short 2-1.
