Overall Season
The Saddle Brook Boys Soccer team started their season in early September with preparation since late June. They finished off their season with ten wins, seven losses, and three ties in the NJIC - Meadowlands League led by Coach Christopher Alfieri. Their best game was against Paterson Charter with a 10-0 overall win with leading scorer Nic Mallon. With their record, the Falcons progressed into the first round of the NJSIAA tournament, putting up a great fight against Wallington but unfortunately losing 2-1.
Goalie Stats
Without the impressive progress shown by goalie Michael Poppagallo, the Falcons wouldn’t have advanced and shown the success they’ve continuously shown this 2021-2022 season. At the end of the season, Michael has shown a total of 159 saves with 20 games played. With his successful season, he also received 1st team All League Goalkeeper.
Recognized Awards
To start off, the team’s captains, Nathan Tejeda, David Gorczowski, and Gent Huli wanted to “congratulate our coach, Christopher Alfieri, for winning Meadowlands Coach of the Year. Without the help and support from coaching, we wouldn’t have excelled at every position or situation we have experienced on and off the field.” Along with coach of the year, Nathan Tejeda, David Gorczowski, Michael Poppagallo, and Nic Mallon all received First Team All League for their positions. Additional congratulations go to Gent Huli for winning Second Team All League and Hamed Issa for recieving honorable mention.
