The Oscars are awards given to the best film, best actor (leading role), Best Actress (leading role), animated film and 19 more. Some of the winners in this categories are; Argo, Daniel Day Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Christophe Waltz, Anne Matheways, and Brave. What are the Oscars you ask, they are the academy awards respected worldwide. Today there are 25 categories. If you think that is a lot wait until you hear this; there used to be 12 other categories. Since there are so many, 3 categories are proposed and rejected every time. The academy awards have a few equals; the Grammy awards, The Emmy awards and the Tony awards. For the past 12 years the Oscars have taken place in the Dolby Theatre. There have been other venues since the Oscars have been going on since 1929. A fun fact about the 1929 Oscars is that, they lasted roughly about 15 min. while today, they lasted up to 3 hours. These world-known awards have been going on for so long and are here today is because they honor so many actors or actresses for their hard work and talent.
