EDITOR OF FHM
Sylvia Owen is the owner of Newberry Tutor, a small
tutoring firm that specializes in teaching students with
dyslexia to read. Previously, she taught WorkKeys math and
reading courses in a prison classroom in Columbia. She has
also taught composition and speech at a technical College.
She is involved in small ministry projects helping women
with disabilities by giving assistance when medical
emergencies occur, and or daily living tasks temporarily
become too difficult to perform. Services provided are adult
care, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and
transportation. The most important lesson learned is to fully
trust in God without question.
