lyzed in fear. It. Was. Awful.
I awakened horrified and it was
difficult to believe that such an
ugly dream could be from God.
Yet because I know God and
how He communicates with me,
I knew He was warning me. The
boyfriend represented something new in my life that was
monopolizing my time, the baby
represented my dream, and my
brother and male best friend represented people that are protectors. God was saying that I was
allowing busyness, fear of failure, fear of loneliness, and fear
of rejection to destroy the dream
and the vision that He gave me
for my life. My brother and male
best friend did not protect the
baby because God was showing me that I am the only person
responsible for protecting my
dreams.
Prior to this dream I had been
praying and asking God for direction and wisdom regarding
my writing. My dream is to be
a best-selling author, yet I have
struggled immensely in this area.
God used this dream to reveal to
me that many of my own decisions were killing the dream because I kept committing to working longer hours, joining more
ministries, and taking on side
projects, meanwhile my writing
had nearly ceased entirely.
John 16:13 However, when He,
the Spirit of truth, has come,
He will guide you into all truth.
We have the Holy Spirit with
us to lead us into all truth. This
includes the truth of whether a
dream is from God, and if so,
the meaning of the dream. The
Holy Spirit will help us discern
whether a dream is from God or
not. Thus, the more we pray in
the Spirit and yield to the Spirit in
obedience, then the more sensitive we are to the leading of Spirit
as He leads us into truth. We become more sensitive to the very
voice of God, and to Jesus who
is the Truth.
Much like discerning situations
in life, the depth of our discernment is in direct proportion to
our depth of intimacy with God.
The more we know God and that
the more we are in the word,
then the more know when He is
speaking. We can easily pinpoint
our child’s laugh in a crowded
room, distinguish the footsteps
of our spouse before they enter the door, and recognize the
voice of our parents when they
call from an unrecognized number. Likewise, we are His sheep
and we hear His voice…. Even
through dreams.
