them to walk out of the movie with a changed perspective .
Then , also you know , because of the romance . It ’ s all about love and we hope they walk out of the movie and love each other better have been . We hope they learn to prioritize each other more . As illustrated in the movie , life gets in the way , and maybe they begin to slip away from each other . But they come back to each other and know that they are the focus of their lives .
This movie , for me , was fun because in Fireproof , I played a woman who had once been in love and was no longer . I had gotten cold and bitter . I seeking happiness elsewhere and so it was a really fine departure for me to be able to now play a wife who is crazy about her husband and to be able to really play up that angle that she wants to make it work . They both want to make it work , and it ’ s not that their marriage is struggling . It ’ s that as human beings there are things that can be a really difficult situation . Rather than letting it drive them apart , it could actually draw them closer .
They walk through life hand in hand .
I think that ’ s what I actually appreciated the most about the movie . Is that they went through the journey together . We actually talked to a couple of a couple of people and I don ’ t know what the statistics are , but it ’ s pretty interesting .
There are men who , if they ’ re facing any kind of devastating illness or situation , there ’ s actually a pretty high percentage of men who cheat . Some become alcoholics , or they do need something outside of their relationship because it can be really emasculating . Men feel their job is to take care of their wife , and you have no way to fix what ’ s wrong .
I think that that ’ s another beautiful thing about this film is that he doesn ’ t make it about what you need to do , or what she can do to be different , than the individual . It seems and if this is happening to her , it ’ s happening to him . They ’ re going to go through it together . It make it a very personal story , and he goes on the journey with her . I think it could be a really powerful tool for a lot of husbands maybe dealing with some type of issue , to see how they can how they can help- just be beyond her team .
New Life is actually promoting life in Africa . And it ’ s helping support an orphans ’ program . Can you tell us more about that ? Yeah we ’ re so excited about that ! We ’ ve partnered with a company in Indiana called Mud Love , and they are selling these New Life products right now . Right now , they have New Life bracelets , but in a couple weeks they ’ re going to introduce mugs and another New Life stuff .
The proceeds from the product- each item that you buy- provides one week of clean water to someone in the Central African Republic . Fifty percent of the proceeds go to funding adoption grants through Show Hope , which is Steven Curtis Chapman ’ s adoption organization .
It is all about the beauty of life and the opportunity to give to either yourself or someone around you . New Life reminds us that life is beautiful and worth living . This is really cool project because you remind yourself to live life to the fullest . At the same time you ’ re giving someone now , you ’ re meeting a physical need for someone else . Then a new life is touched whether it ’ s clear drinking water or a child that needs a family .
It ’ s really beautiful and very touching .
