to each one, so that the energy
of grief is thoroughly expended
in that month. Our society limits the grieving process to one
afternoon of the funeral and everybody goes away, whereas
the ancient Hebrews had many
stages of grieving to accomplish
until the energy was completed.
Many are the forms of grief which
can attack a Christian, but the
Christian, seeking and trusting
the Father in such times, grows
stronger because of it.
I believe that the key to facing
the greatest challenges of life is
knowledge of and a firm knowledge of C belief in the scriptures.
Life will certainly deal out some
shocks because mankind gave
over his sovereignty to satan
whose culture is fear, lies and
death. But the Word of the Lord
is able to save us in every situation we face. Our friends cannot
save us. Our fury cannot save
us. Self-pity cannot strengthen
us. But the wisdom of the Lord
is able to empower us to face every situation with our eyes steadfastly on Him and our hearts
beating strongly to His rhythms.
The best – and only – preparation for the sad and difficult periods of life is to become very
familiar with the scriptures, and
to believe them with the unquestioning faith of a child, utterly,
completely and immediately.
They will stand the test.
