Some might. If I was a parent I
think I’d just say, “Just read the
first 6 chapters, if you don’t love
it and you’re not hooked, you
can stop.” We haven’t heard of
anyone wanting to stop yet!
Your 1st book in the series is
fun to read, with some clever
red-herrings and twists in the
plot, did you have an ending
already mapped out or did the
writing take you there intuitively?
I’m a bit of a plotter, so I had
the basic story outlined before
I started writing. I did though
become surprised myself at
some of the twists I developed
after I got into the heart of the
writing. So I guess you could say
some of them caught me by surprise as I was writing it!
Having read reviews of your 15
movies and the ‘The League
and the Lantern’, they all comment on the humour, a moral
framework and family friendly
entertainment. Is it harder to
be creative when generating
realism, excitement an d contrast between the goodies and
baddies without the usual foul
language, sexual content and
gory violence?
It’s a great question. I find that
the best movies, TV and books
I enjoy aren’t drawn to those
darker elements. Whether it’s
Steven Spielberg, Pixar or Star
Wars, I think it’s clear that you
can have flat-out engaging
drama, action and humor without going there.
