up the slopes of Mount Doom. That’s what it felt
like. We hope we have left a legacy, a path for
other men to follow to find God who meets them in

What would you like to say to the readers in
closing?
There are some topics that are so difficult to
broach, so risky to talk about that we simply avoid
them. Child sexual abuse makes for uneasy
dinner conversation. Yet we dedicate a Sunday to
preach about and pray for the persecuted church,
family finances, and even some mention of trafficked girls…overseas. Notice what is rarely ever
named. Ignoring child sexual abuse will not make
it go away. Our pastors need to talk about it. The
Bible provides ample material to address the subject, though those chapters and sections are usually skipped. Our families need to be equipped to
deal with it if and when they are affected. We need
to learn how to enfold and comfort and support
these families.
If you are reading this article, you know men who
were sexually abused when they were boys. You
may not know who they are but you surely know
at least one and likely more than one. If you want
to get a glimpse of what he may be dealing with,
including spouse, sister, and broader family, consider reading this book and passing it on. These
men are in your church so encourage your pastor
to read this book as well. You will be better
informed and equipped – and you just might save
a life, because you also learned to name it.
