Jonathan Reid said he ’ s motivated by the thought , “ Would Trimble miss us if the church shut down ?”
“ We want to be a difference maker for Christ locally in our community ,” he said .
Reid has been pastor of the church for about a year , after serving as youth pastor for 10 years . Although he didn ’ t feel a strong calling to lead a church , when the opportunity came and he was asked to step up into the role of pastor , “ The Lord prepared me for the pastor role ,” he said .
The church has a steady congregation of about 60 people , but its proximity to Smith Lake means that any given Sunday can see upwards of 80 in church .
“ We had a gentleman who was living at the campground and he attended faithfully for about three months ,” said Reid .
Above : Since the coronavirus pandemic , the church moved to online services only .
