Accord Equality & Fairness Annual Report 2018 For over 50 years, Accord has been providing choice, support and opportunity for local people and communities. Going forwards, Accord needs to continue to demonstrate it knows its customers and communities and understands their backgrounds, needs, aspirations and challenges in order to develop and shape services. Accord is working to achieve the Chartered Institute of Housing’s 10 by 2020 diversity commitments. We signed up to these challenges in 2015 and progress to date is shown below: 1. Collecting, using and demonstrating impact of intelligence WHY? Commitment Know the make-up of our communities and annually consider how you can improve the diversity of your board, leadership and staff teams. Progress Data and commentary included in this report. Challenges for 2019/20 1. To reduce the gaps in data by better explaining the purpose of the monitoring 2. To make more use of customer intelligence on key services including income management, ASB, hate crime and complaints 3. What do we/should we collect and what do we do with it? 6. To promote to the workforce the importance of complete profiling with a “What’s it got to do with you” campaign 3. Fair recruitment EVIDENCE. 30 Challenge all staff (and external agencies) responsible for recruitment to ensure that all shortlists include appropriate candidates from under-represented groups. Sharing of skills EVIDENCE Set an aspirational target for board/ committee recruitment from under-represented groups to ensure that our governance structure is representative of the wider communities we work in. Actions to demonstrate that Governance Succession Strategy includes targets or positive actions where under-representation exists Have in place succession and talent management strategies, which reflect the principles of inclusion and diversity, so that all staff can succeed and progress, if they have the right skills and values. Scrutiny of outcomes of Strategy Identify and provide appropriate mentoring and coaching opportunities for staff and board members – within our own organisation and/or with external agencies. Coaching is a key skill set within the Developing Managers Programme and modules will be run as needed throughout 2019/20 and ongoing Leadership Academy introduced for Aspiring Managers 2.
