They take their name from the expert marksmanship of the members and their commitment to treating everyone with fairness . In the early days they played small clubs until they got a break and landed the house band job at the Cimarron , a country show case originally built by Doc Severson of Tonight Show fame . When the curtain rose , they would entertain as many 1500 people a night with their covers , show , humor and original music . Wanda Jackson ( Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ) was one of many musical icons that enjoyed coming to listen and Wanda even spent some of her birthdays there watching the guys ; just like the half million others who came from all over the country every week for seven years . After releasing a successful CD the band hit the road playing venues all over the Southwestern United States . They are still based out of Oklahoma City and still going strong . They have opened for the Grammy award winning act LONESTAR , Confederate Railroad , Ricochet , The Derailers , Charlie Robison and Ernie Ashcroft of the Grand Ole Opry . They played on the Louisiana Hayride backing Nashville recording legend T . Graham Brown . In the early days Bud opened for Alice Cooper , Stevie Ray , Bugs Henderson and a host of Texas greats . They have been the headliner at Toby Keith ’ s I love this Bar , Jimmy Buffet ’ s Club and regularly play the state ’ s top concert venues and casinos . They have opened for Nashville great David Ball , The Bellamy Brothers and shared the stage with Red Dirt Legend Charlie Robison , Brandon Jenkins , Narvel Felts , Charlie Louvin , the Bonhams , and Marty Raybon of Shenandoah .
They have also appeared in Nashville on the New Artists Radio Award Show . Straight Shooter was the house band at the legendary Cimarron show place in Oklahoma City for seven Years .
