The Day in the Life of Clarisse McClellan

Clarisse McClellan is unlike anyone else of her time. Where she is from, she is truly an anomaly. Clarisse and her family are the only ones in the society who are considered “odd.” Everyone around her are lazy, weak people who do nothing but watch T.V. Clarisse is one of the few people who break away from this norm. Clarisse often starts her day with a nice, casual hike. She also enjoys picking flowers, smelling the leaves, being by the water, and truly embracing nature. Clarisse ends the day by sitting outside and just watching the moon as it sets. Clarisse’s personality is very different from her peers. Clarisse has no shyness and embraces nature for what it is. She uses minimal technology and trusts in her intuition to make the best possible decision for her upcoming situation. Clarisse is able to inspire many people around her. Some of the people she inspired are no other than Guy Montag himself. Clarisse and Guy Montag quickly become extremely close. Clarisse, with another different trait, is extremely talkative. Many people in the society stray from interactions unless they are forced to do so. However, Clarisse readily engages in conversation with Guy Montag. She constantly asks him questions about his life and his wife, Mildred. However, what makes Clarisse very unique in her conversations is that she asks questions that no one else would ask. Eventually, she asks Guy Montag about his job as a fireman and what the firemen have to do in the society, which completely shocks Clarisse and her love for books. Clarisse teaches Guy Montag the meaning of love and also the meaning of life itself. She taught Guy to embrace his identity and not to conform to society, but rather change to make society conform to him. Though Guy is a book burner, Clarisse has inspired him to begin his quest to break away from society and to save many books and read them as well.
