But NQPs complained that delays to the process were leaving them out of pocket ( the difference between band five and the bottom of band six is around £ 3,500 after five years ).
Managers have now agreed that all cases will be individually reviewed by a board made up of representatives of the trust and UNISON . Progress is reportedly also being made on speeding medical technicians and apprentices through pay grades where they should be on a higher point in their band .
The TUC has reported that , on the eve of the 2022 Commonwealth Games , the trade unions and the organisers have signed a “ landmark ” pledge to ensure that all artists and creatives who work during the games are paid fairly , and that the games work to support the long term health of the creative sector in the region and actively promote diversity .
The agreement was made in a memorandum of understanding which was signed by the organising committee for the games and cultural sector unions BECTU , Equity , Musicians ’ Union , and the TUC .
And the CWU has said that Santander workers earning below £ 35,000 full-time equivalent will receive an extra lift to their pay as an exceptional award to help with the cost of living . This is on top of a £ 1,000 increase in March and a £ 250 one-off payment in February , equalling a total pay increase of around 10 % for most employees .
In a further deal announced this week , college and universities union the UCU has reported that its members at Hugh Baird College in Merseyside have won a pay rise of up to 9.8 % and additional annual leave from next year .
Also this week , GMB announced that its members working for Serco at Sandwell council have voted to accept a significant pay rise , additional leave days and improvements to working conditions .

out of four mothers and nine out of 10 fathers at work
Office for National Statistics ( ONS ) figures on families and the labour market show that , in April to June 2021 , three out of four mothers ( 75.6 %) with dependent children were at in work in the UK , the highest level in the equivalent quarter over the last 20 years ( up from 66.5 % in 2002 ).
Over nine in 10 ( 92.1 %) fathers with dependent children were employed , up from 89.6 % in 2002 .
The employment rate was higher for mothers than either women or men without dependent children and has been since 2017 .
Since 2020 , in families where both parents are employed , it has become more common for both parents to work full-time , rather than a man working full-time with a partner working part-time .
In April to June 2021 , 12.1 % of parents reported that they mainly worked from home in their main job ; mothers were more likely to report homeworking ( 13.4 %) than fathers ( 10.7 %).
More than half ( 57.7 %) of families with only one child had both parents working full-time , compared with 39.5 % of families with three or more children .
In March 2022 , employed women with dependent children spent more time on unpaid childcare ( an average of 85 minutes per day ) and household work ( an average of 167 minutes per day ) than employed men with dependent children ( 56 and 102 minutes per day , respectively ).
