FACES - YWAM Singapore Issue.2017 | Page 31

From The Director

The stories you’ ve read in this issue are up close and personal. The passage of missions is one of obedience – a journey that’ s vulnerable to the pains and storms of life. Yet, every YWAM staff and ministry lean in to God, refuse to turn away, and walk into the storm, trusting that the anchors of faith will hold, and God will be glorified. In the breath of these pages, I trust that you’ ve met God, as we have in our walk.
In the previous issue, we wrote about an open door that invited us to move to the Presbyterian Hub( located in Lor J Telok Kurau) in 2019. This has been put on hold, until a main tenant is procured to anchor the Project.
Permission has been granted to the Hub to build up to 130,000sqft, and YWAM has committed to occupy 20,000sqft. This will allow us to accommodate a community of 150 individuals, with the capacity to run at least 5 missions schools simultaneously, and a space, big enough to unite our currently dispersed offices, community hall and housing enclosures. This compelling commitment includes a building cost and 30-year lease( with the option to extend for another 30 years).
Why would God give us such a large space?
Back in 1973, YWAM Singapore was originally registered as a Medical Ship and a Missions Training Institution, committed to spread the gospel and disciple communities in Asia. In concordance to the Memorandum and Articles of Association, education and instruction under our care was meant to extend its reaches to all corners of humanity. Diverse subjects like language, geography, history, ethics, medicine, and dentistry were intended to propel the pursuits, calling and effectiveness of young people. But beyond the facilities conducive for study and research, the establishment and ownership of resources( proper lodging, hospitals, clinics, dispensaries, surgical attendance etc.) for the impoverished was ours to wield.
God has given us a glimpse into His immeasurable dream for Singapore and Asia, and His vision warrants the steadfast recapture of our belief. 43 years on, YWAM Singapore continues to walk and press into the fullness of this dream.
We are a vibrant, international, discipling community, committed to raise a harvest force of missionaries in Asia and beyond. Intentional partnerships with global and local churches, and other YWAM bases provide quality training through our schools, outreaches and community life; all for the purpose of discipling, equipping and sending God’ s workers into the regions of Asia’ s unreached. All this, together with the Hub and our current medical ship in South East Asia, are platforms that merely hint of God’ s full-fledged intentions. And our commitment to His purposes calls for an enduring faith that must surpass our weak convictions, and prevail through time.
We invite you, young and old to join us in fulfilling God’ s desire to see the world filled with His glory. How? Begin in a place of prayer and lean in to God for His direction. Missions is an outflow of our walk with God, so let Him lead you to His word and His presence. We welcome you to join us during our weekly community worship *. Let us commune, connect and converse together for His Kingdom. There is a place for everyone to explore missions if your inclination is,“ Yes, Lord!” This community we create and build, can conquer culture in the region and beyond. We were never meant to do it alone. But it was always God’ s desire for us to rise together. So come.
* Our worship sessions are held every Monday from 8.30am to 9.30am in our Community Hall at KH Plaza, Level 5.
