~ Did you know? One pint of donated blood can save 3 lives! ~
The aroma of fresh baked cookies. Is there anything else like it? In
addition to organizing the Corporate Blood Drive held on March
7th, Teresa Haner, HR & Facilities Manager, baked homemade
cookies for those that donated. Whatever your taste, she had you
covered from peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate chip, sugar,
chocolate-chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin cookies. YUM! Gee,
if only the photo to the right was a scratch & sniff! The turnout to give a pint of
blood was great. Thirty volunteers showed up and 24 donated. We exceeded our
goal by 4 pints! Way to go team!

As a suggestion to the Editor, Richard Porter, Store 17, requested a few cold cures from our Freedom family as he
had been battling a nasty cold for weeks. I’m happy to report he’s feeling much better! To help in that direction,
check out these family cures that are tried and true.
“My family
lives by old
remedies!! For
a cold, we always ... wrap
up in sweats
and get under
the covers to sweat it out! It’s
crazy but anytime I feel a cold
coming on, I do this and I’m
able to ward off any potential
colds before they settle!!”

“Growing up when we were sick
with a cold or flu, my grandmother
made us “hot toddy” Italian style.
(Italian style meaning we would get
it if we were of age to drink or not)
-2 ounces or whiskey or Brandi
-1 tablespoon honey
-4 ounces boiling water
-1 teaspoon lemon juice
-1 slice fresh lemon
Boil water, turn off burner, add all other ingredients and drink up. It helps coughing, breathing
and puts you out for a good, long nap.”

Billie Williams, Buyers Assistant, celebrated her daughter’s wedding
on Sunday, March 23rd. After Billie and her daughter, Erin, worked
through a few dress fittings, she was proud to see her daughter walk
down the aisle in her grandmother’s wedding dress from 1973. The
family had a great time at the wedding. Erin and her groom, Cody, are
excited to start their life together. But that doesn’t mean the day
passed without a tear. Billie says “ I cried the most during the vows. I
expected the traditional ones, but when the time came Cody said
“Together or not at all” and she responded with the same. Check out
the wedding photo, including (from left to right) Billie, Cody, Erin, and
Billie’s husband Ryan.
