9. What's the most rewarding part about modeling?

I love seeing and feeling the whole concept come to life. Planning a shoot with a photographer or putting together a look for a company, and knowing you nailed it and created something awesome.

10. What advice do you have for other aspiring models?

Get yourself out there! I get asked constantly how to start and honestly, no one helped me. I just started by working with one photographer and it moved on from there. I did 5-6 shoots a week around working two jobs to get my portfolio off the ground. It’s a lot of hard work. If you’re not willing to lose sleep and grind for it, then don’t bother. And show up! No one respects a flake.

11. Tell us one thing about yourself the world doesn't know?

It surprises a lot of people to know that I grew up on a horse farm and I used to compete. For a long time I wanted to try for the Olympic team.

12. What's your favorite style of modeling?

I love boudoir modeling! That’s how I originally got started and it completely changed how I viewed my own body. Plus it gave me a better reason for buying so much lingerie!!

13. What distinguishes a good photograph from a bad one?

Quality. Good angles. Perfect tones. Mood. Detail. Detail. Detail.

14. How can readers keep in touch with you on social media?

I am active on most platforms. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. All my handles are @ShardellMonique

15. If you could fast forward in time where do you see yourself in six months?

Hopefully hosting another tattoo expo. I absolutely adore the tattoo community. I’ve been hosting the West Virginia Tattoo Expo for several years and I’d honestly love to do the Seattle Tattoo Expo, Portland, and even The Dallas Tattoo Expo. It’s one of my favorite things to do, you meet so many talented artists and just amazing people from all around the world!
