MISS MARY DESMOND ON STAGE PLEASE...
The final season of AMERICAN IDOL without a doubt will be edged in the memory
of 17 year-old singer MARY DESOND, a student at Mission Viejo High School in
Orange County. She was merely three years old when the highly rated talent
show debuted in 2002. She admits that she had always dreamed of being one of
those talented performers
selected for an appearance on
the show. Now her dream has
come true.
When Mary won the lead role
in her high school production
of "Legally Blonde" and
rocked the audience with her
blazing performance, it only
made her even more
determined to try her luck
with "Idol". She quickly
informs offered, "I love being
on the stage in front of the
audience. My main goal is to
make people laugh and
smile."
Desmond admittedly has
garnered a lot of experience
as a youngster just watching
singing and dancing
performances on stage and
TV. "I don't really remember
when I started being a fan of
American Idol, however, I do
recall my mom warning, 'You
better go put on your pajamas
and brush your teeth or you
can't watch that show'."
For her audition, Desmond
sang the R&B standard
"Fever." Previously, she had performed it last summer (2015) when opening for
jazz artist Eric Marienthal at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. The style of
Michael Buble' seemed to suit her best as was evidenced by the very critical
Newport audience. It would be a dream come true, as far as she is concerned if
she was the lucky one chosen to follow in the footsteps of: Clay Aiken, Carrie
Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert.
