Live Sustainably!

A month ago, the sustainability committee had the pleasure to put up bird feeders. It was not only fun but very sustainable

We started off by making the bird food. About 20 people came along to help with the procedure. Ten people made the bird food and the other 10 made the holders. To make the bird food, we used a big block of lard and some cheese. We squashed it together to make a paste. The cheese was there so stick the lard together. We then added seed to the mixture and mixed it up and rolled the up into balls. While we were doing this the “holder makers” were passing us little holders made from cups and string to hang from trees. We put each ball of the mixture into a cup and left it there to dry for a week.

"It was not only tiring work but also very fun work."

After a weeks’ time, we decided to start hanging all the bird food from the trees. We space the around from the chicken pen to the vegetable patch. It was not only tiring work but also very fun work. We had to make sure that the bird food stuck inside the holders as they often fell out.

"Many more birds visited our school and we even had sightings of them feeding from our bird feeders."

Many more birds visited our school and we even had sightings of them feeding from out bird feeders. We think that the bird feeders were a great success because we have invited many more bird to come to the school. After all, the more animals, the better!
