Make sure that the child’s room is quiet and dark. Ensure they choose a comfort to take to bed, such as a
favourite teddy.
Wake the child at a regular hour each morning so their morning routine is strengthened.
Keep a regular bedtime for your child.
Keep room temperature to a comfortable level. High temperatures disturb sleep.
Surrounding noise should be kept to a minimum.
Encourage your child to learn to fall sleep alone in his/her bed, without your presence.
Avoid stimulating activity in the hour before bedtime.
Avoid drinks of cola, chocolate, i.e caffeine and additives, before bedtime, instead try a warm, milky drink.
