In the spirit of the upcoming UAE National Day, let’s see how well you know
this variety of animals that camp out here in the desert:
Arabian oryx
Their horns grow up to nearly 70 centimetres in length
Horns belonging to females tend to be thinner and longer
Arabian leopard
Smallest among the 15 leopard subspecies
Paler in colour than African and Asian their counterparts
Arabian tahr
Small built but strong and agile
Rubbery hooves provide grip on rocky mountain slopes
Arabian red fox
Spend their life with one mate (in monogamous relationship)
More frugivorous (they eat more fruits than other types of foxes)
