Different size of teddies – some very small bears as well as some very big ones
Character children
Now! Read the story straight through. Show the children all the bears and
help them to sort them in order of size. Talk about the biggest, smallest
and middle sized. Look at the small worldchildren. Discuss size, for
example take the biggest teddy and put it next to a small world child.
Ask the children to describe the bear’s size and the child’s size. Stand up
and put the same bearbeside you. What size does it look now? Take one
of the small bears and repeat, for example‘How does it look?’. Encourage
the children to use size vocabulary such as massive, minute, etc.
Give the children time to think and talk about these concepts.
