Eyes on Early Years 5 | Page 7

Ever thought about a career in management? By: Saima Yasin Working in a nursery as an early years practitioner opens many doors of opportunity. Being in a childcare role gives you the chance to support children as they learn, develop and prepare for school. Some qualified practitioners may want to pursue new challenges and further their career into a supervisory role. They may feel they have enough experience to mentor newly qualified practitioners and teaching assistants. For this reason, some may already be volunteering to mentor new staff in their setting or supervising the running of a room in their nursery (room leader). This kind of experience lays the stepping stones for practitioners working towards becoming a deputy manager or coordinator in their field of specialism. To be successful, practitioners need to build on their knowledge whilst gaining practical experience. Level 4 Managing an Early Years Setting is all about supporting qualified practitioners to learn new skills and gain knowledge, allowing them to move forward with confidence. This summer at our EYES office we will be holding Level 4 taster sessions to give you an insight into the qualification and how it can help you to achieve your goals and support you in moving forward in your career.
