THE EDITOR’S INTERVIEW (HUSTLEMAN) Walter Sandifor Jr. a/k/a Hustle Man, CEO of Hustle Money Records What is your career background and where are you from? I’m from uptown New Orleans, the St. Thomas housing project. Although I’m an all around guy—I was never confined to one. What or who inspired you to do music? My mom use to write music song while listening to them repetitiously. That’s how she’d memorize them. Also, my dad owned bars—so I grew up around music. I came up around the Cash Money camp, Bryan (Baby) & Ronald Williams. I was an artist working in that circle since before Kilo G was an artist. I mean I was never really on their label, but I was grinding with them from the ground up! What would you say your journey in the music industry has been like? It’s a grind, a hustle. Nothing is gained easy. You have to go out and be at the right place at the right time. What‟s the one thing you want everyone to know about the you? The content of my music is based on the things that I have been through from my own experiences. If a major label were interested in you, should they know about you as an artist? I’m a hard worker, disciplined to the game. I’m hungry! Tell us about the business man—Hustle Man? I like to see people look good. #1...I’m a fashion guru. When I look good a feel good. My other businesses are: Hustle Man Fashions, Inc and Hustle Money Records, LLC What advice would you give to aspiring artist? This is not a free ride. You have to have either some money or sponsorship in order to get where you’re going. You have to have some type of money when you dealing with this music game. Be willing to promote yourself by doing whatever...passing out fliers, selling cd’s. Sometimes you have to beau guard your way too! Why do you hustle so hard? #1—I come from nothing. I know if I can be seen working hard in the community, then the kids will be inspired by what they see me do. After which, they’ll be saying...if Hustle Man can do it—I can do! What was the most difficult part of your journey in the music industry? I cant say there was a difficult point in my journey. It’s all a part of the business. I mean, being turned down...not being believed in. The way I look at it is this “there must have been a reason.” Whenever I knocked on the door and it wasn’t open. It’s the nature of the business. I go back and perfect my game! What has your experience with IMG Gulf Coast been like? It’s a promotional record deal. It involves a lot of hard work and traveling. It takes some getting use to. I mean getting use to promoters and such. Mr. Thomas handles booking for me as an IMG Artist. I’m currently present on the home page of the IMG website www.IMGGulfCoast.com.
