Recording vocals : Part 2
This segment is going to be about recording at the
proper recording levels.
This just doesn't applies to vocals, it should be used
on everything you record.
Back in the day of analog, we use to try to get our
levels as close to zero as possible,the hotter the signal
the better it sound. Now that we're in a digital world,
hitting the zero mark can cause distortion and also
thin out the sound of what is being recorded.
So, I suggest you record between -6 and -12,this will
allow the headroom needed to mix and also give you a
cleaner sound. If you find the need to boost the signal that
has been recorded, simply normalize it.
