Q. If another film director or movie producer
were interested in you, what should they
know about you as an actor or artist?
A. Everything I‟m offered, I approach with
humility and diligence because I don‟t take
anything for granted. I want to give the best
version of me that I can offer. I want to give
them what they‟re looking for. I am very
negotiable.
Q. What advice would you give to aspiring
artists, actors and poets?
A. Be honest with yourself in your writing.
If you‟re trying to do what somebody else
want you to do or say, it takes away from
who you are. True story… “Before Treme‟
ever shot a scene in New Orleans my cousin
asked me if I was going to try to be involved
with the show. I said no. I‟m going to wait
until spoken word comes up and then let
them seek me out. Because I believe in my
writings. I wrote something of value to me.
I set a goal. I wrote what people appreciate.
“ Then….it happened. I got the role!
“Luck is preparedness plus opportunity!”
Q. As an actor, screen play writer and poet
I‟m sure you enjoy fame and the lime light
as well. Yet, you are still humble.
How‟s that so?
A. I realize that I am extremely lucky just to
be here. I‟m not only in a position to do
things that I enjoy, but I‟m alive. After a
near death experience in the past I‟ve come
to know that people are at their best when
they recapture any opportunity to express
themselves without censorship….It is truly a
blessing!
