“Empowering Extraordinary Health® is one of the greatest mission statements,” according to Teresa Miller, VP, HR & Wellness. We are continuously striving to improve people’s health and wellbeing through our products and our educational efforts. EMPOWERING EMPLOYEE Health & Wellness ecently, we have made a big push to improve our own employees’ health and wellness. In our new office space, we installed a state-of-the-art fitness center. We have several pieces of equipment that focus on functional fitness, such as a cable crossover machine, TRX and kettlebells. In order for employees to maximize this equipment and to ensure they are utilizing correct form and technique, we held several free training sessions. “We are very fortunate to have certified trainers on our team who offered to host these sessions for employees,” said Miller. The sessions focused on full-body workout, circuit training and kettlebells. Matt Cousins, Inside Sales Manager and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, led employees through the importance of core work. “Our core is the physical foundation for every movement we make, everything we do,” states Cousins. “We breathe from our core. We balance from our core. Our core is dynamic, and we must maintain it to stay active and agile.” in 10-to-15 minutes. “I love the fact that GoL offers so many great wellness initiatives to its employees,” said Matt Borden, Financial Reporting Accountant. “It gives me the opportunity to align my personal interests with my professional endeavors.” The feedback from participants was extremely positive. “I have used the kettlebells a couple times since our session and love the fact you can get a high, intense workout (full body) in such a short time,” said Mark Lue, Product Support Representative. In addition to training sessions, several employees participated in a virtual walking challenge across Europe. We had over 30 employees log steps and travel from Amsterdam to Greece. “The European Expedition was challenging and exciting. It pushed us to increase our step count, and we reached the destination in five weeks instead of eight weeks, which was a huge accomplishment for our team. We can’t wait for the next challenge!” said Barbara Gordon, Product Support Supervisor. We also recently held our free annual biometric screenings (i.e., blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose). Employees appreciated the opportunity to have the results provided onsite From left to right. . .
