health EXTRAORDINARY VOLUME 36 • 2019 Spring has Sprung! No doubt about it, when spring finally arrives, there’s a renewed energy that is uncompromised. The days are longer and brighter, flowers and trees are blooming and warmer temperatures spark interest in all kinds of outdoor activities. Although Garden of Life ® ’s corporate headquarters is located in South Florida, springtime always has a special meaning to us since this is when we hold our annual Garden of Life Sun Run! This awesome 5K event is held at PGA National to benefit Special Olympics— one of the many charitable organizations near and dear to our hearts. Bringing the community together to support Special Olympics Florida (Palm Beach County), a portion of the registration fee is donated directly to the organization and runners may also collect donations. Every year, the event grows larger and the contributions grow greater. With over 1,200 entrants this year, this will be our best year ever. Stay tuned for more information in the next issue of Extraordinary Health. There’s also more exciting news to share—the introduction of our new Dr. Formulated CBD Whole Hemp Extract product line. Partnering with David Perlmutter, MD, this new line offers stand-alone CBD oils along with formulas containing clinically studied ingredients to support various wellness areas. Most importantly—the Garden of Life difference—purity, quality and third-party verification of all ingredients. We’re truly excited about this launch. We’ve also included some great information about our new Collagen and Keto products. Along with that information, we’ve provided some delicious ways to use these items in your everyday meals. And what about spring cleaning? We also offer up some great ways to use our 100% Pure & Organic Essential Oils to clean or freshen up your home along with some energizing recipes to put a spring in your step. The ever-beautiful Andie MacDowell adorns our cover in this issue and is featured on pages 14 through 17. We think you’ll find her story about defying ageism in a town where only the young once prevailed to be very telling. Also, some great stories from our Brand Ambassadors—Julie Dudley and Mareya Ibrahim. Julie took part in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s The Titan Games, which aired this past season, and showed what it really looks like to be a 51-year-old female firefighter and paramedic. Mareya’s story of her rise to becoming an entrepreneur and authoring her latest book, will surely inspire everyone to eat cleaner. These are just a few of the springtime specials we’ve covered in this issue of Extraordinary Health. As always, we hope it provides that certain spark to help you and your family lead a healthier and happier life.
