What’s the best way to balance work, family and fitness?
For the Scotts, it’s all about faith and teamwork.
BOB AND CAROLINE SCOTT
Occupations: Bob, Area Director and
General Manager for Louisville Athletic
Club (LAC); Caroline: Director of
Marketing-Associates in Pediatric Therapy
and support PR staff for LAC.
L
ouisville Athletic Club (LAC)
is the reason we relocated to
Louisville from Lexington in 2002.
It holds such a special place in our
hearts because it has birthed so many lasting
and meaningful friendships and relationships
in this city, one in which we came to all those
years ago barely knowing anyone. It was and
has been our life for so many years. Our boys
learned to walk in the playroom at LAC, where
the sweet ladies took wonderful care of them
for so many years while Mom and Dad worked.
Running a successful business like LAC has also
provided so many wonderful opportunities for
us that we otherwise probably wouldn’t have
been able to experience. We both love the field
of health and wellness, so to be able to live and
breathe our passion has been such a blessing.
We are both proud of the fact that we have
chosen to make health and fitness a part of our
daily lives. Several years ago, we both became
certified personal trainers to expand our
knowledge even further. To be able to pass on a
legacy of the importance of healthy living to our
children is something very important to us both.
As busy parents of two teen boys, our biggest
challenge would definitely be finding the time
to fit in workouts and healthy homemade meals.
However, we do try hard. We both love to cook,
so working as a team in the kitchen helps with
the time challenge.
As husband and wife, we try to cheer each
other on and support each other in all aspects
of life. Family is very important to us, so our boys
are supportive too. They are both active and like
being outdoors, so it’s not unusual to find us on
family walks or bike rides on pretty days. Most
importantly, however, our faith in God is the
biggest support system in our life.
It’s important t o set short term goals and don’t
be too hard on yourself if things don’t always go
perfectly. Take one day at a time and be realistic.
Find a support system, whether it is your spouse,
a family member, or friends at the gym. Find
someone that will hold you accountable. Keep
pressing on!
We enjoy a combination of cardio and weights.
Caroline enjoys swimming (reliving her college
swim team days), as well as stretching and body
weight exercises every now and then. As we
mentioned, on nice days we love to take walks
and bike rides as a family. As far as diet, we
enjoy eating clean, whole foods. We prefer to eat
organic whenever possible and stay away from
processed foods. We believe in enjoying life too,
so if you see us out enjoying a dessert at a local
restaurant, don’t judge. It happens sometimes
and that’s OK.
