One Southern Indiana (1si) hosted its annual meeting Aug. 14 at
Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth.
More than 400 people attended the luncheon, which was presided
over by 1si President and CEO Wendy Dant Chesser.
In addition to an inspiring keynote address by Whirlpool Corporate
Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs Jeff Noel, the event
included updates about the region. Dant Chesser and 1si Executive
Vice President Matt Hall shared various highlights from the past year,
including recording the highest number of new jobs– 2,028 – most of
which were produced by new companies.
Attendees learned about 1si’s new strategic plan, “2020 and Beyond,”

which will focus on organizational sustainability, serving members
through business resources and programming, collaboration of regional
prosperity, the workforce development initiative known as WorkHub,
growth generated by economic development and providing “catalytic”
leadership.
Additionally, Brian Smith, producer at the Callistus Smith Agency: Frost
Brown Todd LLC, received the Ambassador of the Year Award during
the luncheon. Strandz Salon & Threadz Boutique Co-owner Stefanie
Griffith was given the First Harrison Bank Volunteer of the Year Award.
