For the Community - $2:$1 Match For every $1 donated to the Foundation’s Community Impact Fund, Lilly Endowment Inc. will donate $2 – a two for one match – tripling your charitable investment. CFSI has provided support for southern Indiana nonprofit organizations for over 28 years. Founded in 1991, CFSI manages $116 million in charitable assets and administers over 260 individual funds. In 2018, the Foundation made more than 60 grants to southern Indiana nonprofits from the Community Impact Fund, addressing the needs of more than 84,000 people. “A gift to the Community Impact Fund is the easiest and most flexible way to provide for the most pressing needs in the community,” said Linda Speed, president and CEO for CFSI. “This unrestricted fund allows us to address the ever-changing needs in our community through grants to our region’s nonprofits.” Annually, non-profit organizations apply through a competitive application process to receive a share of the approximately $300,000 awarded each year from the Community Impact Fund. “If we’re able to raise the $500,000 still needed to meet the Lilly match, that would grow the Community Impact Fund by a total of $2 million,” Speed said. “Ultimately that would translate to an additional $80,000 generated each year in grants to our nonprofit community.” Qualifying donations made to the Community Impact Fund through December 31, 2020 will be matched two for one until the allotted matching funds are exhausted. For Your Fund - $1:$2 Match “Per the Lilly Endowment, we can set aside 2/3 of the matching funds for our unrestricted endowment. The rest can be used for individuals to add to their own fund.” Donors may add to or create a new endowment fund for their specific charitable purpose and receive a $1 match for every $2 contributed. Gifts that can be matched include cash, checks, Qualified Charitable Distributions (IRA rollover), stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and more. “Individuals, families, and even businesses, can use CFSI to support their own charitable interests,” said Speed. “At the Community Foundation you can set up a fund to benefit your church, alma mater, or you can even set up a family fund and get the next generation involved in grant making.” Community Foundation of Southern Indiana President and CEO Linda Speed.
