BEVERLY BREWER MCCOMBS
Dec. 28, 1955 – July 23, 2018
We introduced Beverly Brewer McCombs to
Extol readers in October 2017 when she was one
of several breast cancer survivors we featured
in the issue. Vivacious and funny, Beverly lit up
the room during her photo shoot and caused
some of us to wipe away tears when she shared
her story – but not out of sadness. Beverly’s
positivity, love for God and her family and desire
to uplift others was powerful and palpable.
Beverly passed away on July 23, which prompted
us to take a look back at the words she once
shared on these pages, a single sentence
standing out among the rest: “Cry and grieve
when you need to, but don’t stay there.”
