These early monumental structures were 5 to 11 ft tall
and weighed between 7 and 10 tons! Most of these
sculptures now reside in Mexican museums.
The Olmec also created jewelry, cave art and sculptures
made from wood, jade, terracotta, serpentine and basalt.
They also devised a complex astronomical calendar,
writing systems, rituals and a vast amount of traditions
and traits that influenced succedent civilizations such as
the Mayans and Aztecs.
