“I have a lot of pre-med
students who want to take AP
Spanish. Taking AP Spanish
will really give those types
of students a head start on
getting a minor,” she said.
According to the bilingual
teacher, most universities
allow students to “test out”
or receive retroactive credit.
After taking the course, Snider
believes
students
should
easily be able to test out of
the ?rst or second semester
of Spanish at the college level.
Students also will have to
option to pay $80 to take the
advanced placement test. If
students score a 3 or above,
they receive college credit.
During class students will
practice improv speech, but
much of the coursework will be
done as performance events
inside and outside of the
classroom. Students will have
to record pieces in Spanish and
submit online. This gives the
student a chance to perfect the
spoken word and really hone
in on the language. Online
tests and coursework will also
contribute to the course, but
much of the online work must
be completed after school
hours. Students will have to
plan their time wisely in order
to accomplish the work.
Snider has big plans to push
the students to the next level.
