EMERALD CITY SIGHTS Take time to enjoy the countless attractions Seattle hast to offer. T By REBECCA LLOYD HE DENNY PARTY LEFT Oregon and settled in Seattle on Nov. 13, 1851. It was a long, arduous trip that found them at Alki Beach, one of Seattle’s most popular beaches today. That was 165 years ago and since then the Emerald City continues to carve a place in history as one of the most beloved cities in the Pacific 36 PORTLAND, Northwest — both from a historical and a tourist standpoint. Industry giants like Boeing, Microsoft, Weyerhaeuser, Amazon and Starbucks all call Seattle home, which give the city a solid workforce. But it’s the tourism that sets itself apart from other cities. The state’s fourth largest industry, tourism generates over 20 million overnight visitors generating just over $6 billion to the local economy. And while explore:NW | The Official Magazine of kenmore air | Summer 2016 Seattle’s reputation as being one of the rainiest cities in the Pacific Northwest, it also has a well-earned reputation as one of the prettiest cities to visit on a sunny day. Quite frankly, it’s hard to beat a day in Seattle when the sun is shining. Suffice it to say Seattle has a lot going on, and a lot to offer someone looking to spend a weekend playing in Seattle. Here are my favorite things to do when I visit the Emerald City.
