This Victorian Style house is considered a “bonanza house”
which means it is a gargantuan house built for Industrial
Age entrepreneurs who amassed great wealth. Scottish
Immigrant Robert Dunsmuir owned Craidarroch Castle.
Dunsmuir made his money through Vancouver Island
coal. This fabled abode began construction in 1887 and
was completed in 1890. The mansion, with its 39 rooms of
