Eastsound Fly-In & Antique Car Show
DATE August 5 - 7 TIME All day Sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association ’ s ( EAA ) Chapter 937 the annual Old Fashioned Fly-In features between 100 and 150 aircraft from around the country that fly into Orcas Island . This is considered one of the best events for aviation buffs . Warbirds , experimentals , old fashioned airplanes , local pilots and seaplanes , aircraft , plus flying demonstrations . Also enjoy the Orcas Road Classics car club ’ s most widely known event is the annual car show hosted during the first weekend of August in conjunction with the fly-in . portoforcas . com
Doe Bay Fest
DATE August 4 - 8 TIME All day Sponsored by the Doe Bay Resort and Artist Home , the 9th Annual Doe Bay Festival on Orcas Island features an extensive line up of musicians , local cuisine , camping and activities in one of the most picturesque venues the Northwest has to offer . Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival
DATE August 4 - 20 TIME 5:30 and 7:30 p . m . During the two-week festival there are 10 evening concerts , a Children ’ s Concert , Hamlet Concerts and an Open Rehearsal for Seniors . In addition , the festival presents Music Lovers Seminars and Pre-Concert Talks . The Seminars are presented the morning of each concert pair , and include coveted visits to concert rehearsals . Comprehensive in scope , they feature highly regarded lecturers from the Northwest and guest artists , who explore the social and historical context of each composer and the specific repertoire of the concert evening . Friday Harbor Laboratories ’ Jazz at the Labs
DATE August 20 TIME 6:00 - 9:30 p . m . The 16th annual Jazz night at Friday Harbor Laboratories features dinner and amazing music . Dinner will be served from 6:00 – 7:00 p . m . in FHL ’ s historic dining hall , accompanied by the San Juan Jazz Quintet . Following dinner , Seattle ’ s Jazz Coalescence will perform , bringing together some of Seattle ’ s most talented jazz musicians . All proceeds from Jazz at the Labs benefit the Friday Harbor Laboratories K-12 Science Outreach Program in the San Juan Island Elementary , Middle , and High Schools and the Spring Street International School . DATE September 17 TIME All day This year ’ s theme — ‘ Quality of Life ’ — focuses on ideas that have made a lasting contribution to the betterment of society . Featured speakers at the forefront of fields such as science , health , technology , art and education will present ideas that influence the wellbeing of groups or individuals and discuss how these insights lead to new projects , perspectives and innovations . Lopez Island Vineyards Harvest Festival
DATE September 24 TIME All day Join in the fun of harvesting grapes at Lopez Island Vineyards on Lopez Island . If weather allows there will be two parties this year . First in line is the harvest of Siegerrebe followed by Madeleine Angevine ( Mad Angie ) about two to three weeks later .
