time in Phoenix , Savannah and Nashville before deciding in the spring of 2019 to buy and renovate a school bus for their home . It fit with their desires for a minimalist lifestyle and to have a home they could move when they wanted . They bought the biggest bus they could find and began renovating it - first in Las Vegas , then Lake Tahoe and eventually in Southern California , where they lived for the past two years .

Fast forward to March , 2020 when COVID became a reality in the U . S . Empty grocery store shelves got them thinking about how fragile and dependent our food system is .
